FAQs
Dance Express
at your wedding

You have concerns about how your wedding day will
proceed and the performance and capabilities of your service providers. The
answers below should help you make the best entertainment decision for your
affair and offer information critical to the success of your day.
What do you wear at a wedding reception?
Unless otherwise requested, Mike wears a black tuxedo with a white
tuxedo shirt, black cummerbund and a bolo tie. Additional options include a suit and tie
or theme dress.
Do you execute announcements?
Unless you designate a host, Mike will complete all desired
announcements and serve as master of ceremonies. This may include introduction of the
wedding party; invitation to join the buffet; encouraging participation in the garter and
bouquet tosses; special acknowledgments; and the introduction of the first dance and any
additional bridal or family dances.
What is your equipment presentation?
Dance Express features one of
two set-ups at an event depending on access, number of guests and size of the
facility. The larger, modular unit is employed in auditorium and large banquet
rooms. The smaller board is used for the increasing number of smaller facilities
and private residences. Each unit is composed of professional quality equipment,
multiple speaker configurations and wireless microphones. Skirting completes a
pleasant, clean presentation. All other supplies are stored out-of-sight or in
attractive displays and all wires are hidden or taped down.
What is your set-up and load out time?
With our efficient equipment organization, we do not usually require more than 45
minutes to set-up the audio system. Usually, we arrive about 60 minutes before the
scheduled start time to set-up. We strive to be ready 20 minutes before the scheduled
music commencement. Typical tear down and load out time is often less than 30 minutes.
Do you feature a wide variety of music?
Dance Express possesses one of the most complete music libraries in
the business with popular dance selections from many formats including pop, country,
oldies, disco, big band, funk/rap, classic rock and soul. Our ambient music selection
includes classical, jazz, light pop and adult standards. And, more importantly,
Mike's resume includes seventeen years spinning for hundreds of wedding
receptions, sock hops, disco infernos, country hoe-downs, company picnics, corporate
promotions and holiday parties. That experience can assist in selecting the right songs at
the right moments for your event!
Do you accept requests before and at the event?
We forward a song list with the signed agreement and solicit your suggestions to
feature the type of musical presentation you desire! Popular
selections are also available on this web site. At the event, we accept musical
suggestions and use our judgment and your guidelines in selecting crowd-pleasing tunes. At
wedding receptions, since the mood is positive and upbeat, we avoid songs that contain
inappropriate lyrics, such as breaking up!
Do you take breaks during an event?
Although Dance Express
appreciates thoughtful clients who allow Mike (and dancers, if applicable) to
enjoy a meal during a four to six hour event, the music
does not stop! We possess selected mixes that will track through a meal
break without interruption and provide desired ambient or dance music.
What is your availability for specific dates?
As an owner/operator company, Dance Express devotes its
energy and focus to your event on a specific date. To learn Dance Express'
upcoming schedule, visit our
Calendar page.
Do you moderate the volume of the music?
Dance Express understands that the meal and cocktail portion of a
wedding reception or other event are times for conversation. Mike
facilitates discussion with appropriate jazz, classical or light pop selections delivered
at a comfortable volume level. When you are ready to dance, the music volume is upgraded
to a party level and monitored to conform to local ordinances, facility demands or client
desires!
How much do you charge?
Dance Express' rates vary (generally between $695 and $1,000 per event) depending on the requested
entertainment for the event, length of the event, personnel required to execute the
desired program, travel time, and desirability of the date.
However, you will find our rates competitive in
Central Oregon and our service and
presentation an excellent value for your entertainment investment! Please forward an
e-mail or call with the event description to receive a quote!
How do you handle overtime?
Dance Express charges $150.00 per hour of overtime. If requested
to play beyond the contracted ending time, we check with you and the facility to insure
that all parties are comfortable with the additional time. Then, we dance!
