We will arrive 45 to 60 minutes prior to the contracted start time. With our efficient organization, we usually require only 20 to 30 minutes to set-up the audio system. We will be set-up before your first guest arrives. If you would like Dance Express to set up more than 30 minutes in advance, please clarify that desire at the tie of the booking--additional charges may apply. Music will be playing when your guests arrive at the reception with attention paid to the volume and selection. When you arrive at the reception, we would be honored to announce your entrance. One of four methods are typically employed for introductions:
Depending on the tone, we may lay a soft bed of music during introductions and, possibly, a flourish before and/or after the introduction of the bride and groom. Depending on room logistics, we may venture to the dance floor with a wireless microphone for introductions. And, all introductions will be executed with the style, professionalism and grace of an experienced emcee!
During your cocktail period and the meal, we typically program a mix of soft jazz and pop
favorites. The jazz menu includes a mix of guitar, piano and, occasionally,
saxophone-based selections. The pop tunes range from the timeless interpretations of
Frank Sinatra and Natalie Cole to the smooth elegance of Duke Ellington and Count Basie to
the lighter side of Madonna and Indigo Swing. The music's volume is maintained at a level designed to facilitate conversation and
support the enjoyment of the meal. We value this time to support
guest renewal and help establish the tone
for the event. Typically, the toast to the bride and groom is offered when all the guests are seated for the meal. While the best man traditionally offers the toast, more frequently, the maid/matron honor, other members of the bridal party and even the parents may elect to express their best wishes. We will introduce the best man and either he--or Mike--can introduce additional speakers.
A wireless microphone will be provided to allow the speaker to remain at
their seat, if
they prefer.
Typically, Mike wears a black tuxedo, white shirt, black cummerbund and a bolo
tie. Additional options include suit and tie or theme dress. As the first dance nears, we increase the energy, tempo and volume, building momentum to this special moment at your reception. Once the first dance and the other requested dances are completed (i.e., bridal party, father/daughter), we invite your family and guests to join you on the dance floor.
We usually vary our music mix to appeal to the frequently wide range of ages often
present at wedding receptions. We welcome music suggestions and employ your
guidelines and requests, good taste and our fifteen years of experience to craft a
comfortable, fun and inviting audio atmosphere for everyone.
Our rates vary depending on location, number of hours, facility logistics, time of year
and additional personnel required to fulfill gig expectations. Generally, our
competitive rates range from $695 to $1,000 with a $300 retainer required to reserve Dance
Express' services. The key--insuring you get top value for your entertainment
dollar.
Although advance booking is the best method to insure desired coverage, depending on
our schedule and the facility, we may be available for overtime.
Availability of overtime is dependent on facility and your approval and will be billed
at $150.00 per hour, due and payable at the event. We will work closely with your other event professionals (photographers, videographers, caterer, facility manager) to insure that all activities are completed seamlessly and captured for your memories. That means we will not introduce the toast until the champagne or beverage has been poured and the photographer is ready. We will not initiate the garter and bouquet tosses until the photographer is prepared and your guests are ready. Additional wedding sections: |
